Z Papaya Chronicles: Getting Ready To Hit The Road

With the holiday festivities now a fond memory it's time to get down to the business of trip prepping.

Destination Zihuatenejo (January 3, 2014 to March 28, 2015)

Welcome to Z Papaya Chronicles. We had often talked about taking off for a few months once we retired and it just goes to show if you dream it you can make it happen. Our initial plan was Costa Rica, but after an impromptu last minute too good to resist package deal last March we found ourselves inZihuatanejo  (zee-what-an-a-ho) and fell in love. It had everything we wanted and needed - glorious weather, lovely people, wonderful restaurants, gorgeous beaches, dog friendly (more on this later), old world charm but with all the necessary amenities and the ability to walk everywhere. After finding an apartment that was within our budget we spent a good part of the year chomping at the bit to get going and in four days we will have arrived!

Leading Lady: Ms. Granny Pants aka Barbara (moi!)

Leading Man:  Mr.  Granny Pants aka Jim

Our Home Away From Home for the Next Three Months (apartment is upstairs on the left)

The past few months have been spent reading blogs, perusing Spanish lesson apps, researching travelling with dogs to Mexico and so on. Planning a three month adventure is very different than a two week one! My head is about to explode with Mexican facts. I am crazed and obsessed with gathering as much information as I can before we embark on our three month adventure of living in Zihuatenejo.   Getting the electronics sorted and all the thingamajigs, whatchamacallits and doohickeys that go along with them has been an adventure in itself.  Most of today was spent trying to find the charger for my netbook which resulted in my finally having to order one from Amazon. Murphy's Law says I should find it somewhere in my apartment shortly after the UPS truck pulls out of the driveway. On the plus side, while ripping my apartment apart from corner to corner I did stumble upon my iPod Nano which means I can move my music over and have an additional 4 gigs of photo space on my iPhone. Yup....I am a glass half full kind of granny pants!
